Planning our annual September trip to the mountains. Have done Deals and that area and the BRP up to 80 east of Asheville. Thinking about trailering to Asheville and then riding up around Boone for a few days. Mad Maps has some pretty good routes in the area. Any suggestions?

You are welcome to trailer your bikes to greenville, sc and leave the trailer on my land. I live WAY out in the country and no one bothers anything. Getting on the BRP from here is a ton of fun.

While you are in the area, check out Shatley Springs for a great meal. They serve home cooked all you can eat. They also have cabins for rent if you need lodging. It is about 30 minutes from Boone.

RaftGyde surprised me with a night at the Pisgah Inn for my b'day last year. It's right on the BRP near Ashville. http://www.pisgahinn.com/ Nice treat! I think there's only 2 hotels on the entire parkway. This pic was taken from the balcony of our room.

Near Boone, we met the "Snyder cousins" at breakfast one day. We ended up riding with them all day and they took us on back roads we probably never would have found. Their family property boasts the mouth of the south fork of the New River. Pretty cool for RaftGyde cause he rafts the New in WV. Hell, they even took us to one of their sister's house! Great roads-great people! Enjoy!

Avoid hwy.321 south to Lenoir-heavy roadconstruction.

Good roads:
Hwy 181 to Morganton
Hwy 321 & 421 north of Boone.
BRP north of Boone to hwy.18 intersection (Laurel Springs). Biker friendly hangout there.
Hwy 18 to Wilkesboro
Hwy 268 between Wilkesboro and Patterson.
Try findingthe Todd General Store (gettin' lost isthe bomb)and work your way north into AsheCounty.

Highway 421 North out of Boone will put you on a road called the Snake. There is a cross road about mid-way that has good rides in either direction. Do a google search on the snake. You should find some good information. If you want to venture further north go through Bristol Tn and pick 421 up again. Nice ride into Virginia and Kentucky. All in an easy days round trip ride of Boone.

If you are staying in Boone be sure to eat at the Daniel Boone Inn. Family style all you can eat. I especially like the breakfast and the country ham biscuits. Shatley Springs is good as well.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like breakfastat the Daniel Boone and supper at Shatley Springs. May even try the cabins at Shatley Springs. We had hoped to meet today to start our planning, but were unable to.

Simcom, I'll PM you my email address. We might take you up on your offer on a parking spot. The first year I took this group up they wanted to ride up. After the LONG ride home, they haven't had a problem trailering up since.

Agree with Cosmo, all are good riding roads, lived on 268 for 2 years at Patterson and traveled alot, great valley seens, twisty's and you cross the Yadkin River quite a few times.
Stay away from 321, still heavy construction going on.
I was planning a trip to Boone this weekend but couldn't get everyone on schedule. Will be planning a trip sometime in September.
