Default Myrtle Beach Fall Bike Week

I've been thinking about attending Myrtle Beach Bike Week in the fall. I've heard it's not quite the event that the spring show is. Is it still worth going?

I've been to the Ocean City bike week and also (when they had it) the spring OCBW. The Spring was really poor - and not just in comparison to the regular fall Bike Week. The spring event ended up getting canncelled. This is why I'm asking. I've been burned by going to the "lesser" event in the past! So, is the Fall MBBW a good event?

Thanks,

Good question. I am in the same boat. Been going to OCMD bikeweek for the past 13 years. Interested in trying the fall MB bike week as well and skipping OC. OCMD cost have gotten way out of hand for everything

We like both the spring and fall rallies.

The weather is usually good, the beach is always great and they have a nice turnout of people.

The same places for both are always wide open. These are the two dealership locations, Barefoot Landing, The Beaver Bar, SBB, Rat Hole and Spokes & Bones.

These places are always wide open with bands, bike shows, vendors, stunt riders and burn out competition for both rallies.

The food in the Murrells Inlet area is excellent, especially down at the river walk.

It’s always a nice ride south to George Town for lunch on the river front also.

It’s only a four hour ride for us, but we always look forward to it.

Make sure you visit Captain Archie’s in North Myrtle on the ICW for the photo. This place is one of our favorites. Always a great band, huge open air bar and okay food.

Well, I'm not criticizing OCBW. They had some trouble of late with the previous festval owners being really unorganized. But the new company running it put on a pretty nice event this past year. Sure, it's not cheap. But nothing in OC is cheap any more. Not sure anywhere is cheap anymore. Not looking to bash OC. I'm close enough that I'll probably still go. I'm just looking to learn about Myrtle.

I am not trying to bash it just present facts. When I first started going it was more about the bikes, now it is all about the concerts. They took away vendors at Winter Garden park, now the stadium. I know things have gotten more expensive over the years, but Hotel costs have tripled since I started going there. Food cost also have tripled. I like OCMD but I think they are pricing themselves out of everything. The city has added so many fees and taxes to everything it is just crazy. The hotel we first stayed at was around $650 for 5 nights. Last Ilooked the same room is now over $1800 for the same stay......I think that is crazy

I've been going to MBBW for 13 years now and I always have a good time.
The Harley Shop south has allot of vendors and a huge Harley discount tent.
The Harley Shop in North Myrtle has hundreds of bikes under one tent for sale and they usually have the HD fleet their doing demo rides. Which is actually a nice 20 min loop.
Suck Bang Blow, The Beaver Bar, Spokes & Bones, and The Rat Hole are all your typical biker bar with loud music, scantly dress bar maids, and burn out pits. Plus they have vendors setup as well.
Best place to park is at the church lot between SBB and The Beaver Bar. Cost $5 and they watch your bike.
Lots of vendors also setup at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle.
Like others have said, the beach is nice, plus you can take day trips to Wilmington, NC, and Charleston, SC.
Nothing is centrally located so you will be doing lots of riding, which is a good thing in my opinion.

Since I have never been there before, does anyone have any recommendations on the best area to look to stay?

Check out the Surfside Beach area.

It’s just south of Myrtle Beach and very close to everything happening, especially the Murrells Inlet area.

We like Surfside Beach Resort. Nice, clean and within walking distance of five good restaurants with underground parking. They do a great job of blocking areas for bikes and have good security. It’s right at the recently completed Surfside Pier.

From North Myrtle all the way south to Murrells Inlet you can find every type of accommodation you can imagine. There is no bad place to stay location wise.

I have heard there are a lot of hassles with Myrtle. Lots of police stops (not an issue because I don't drink, but an annoyance anyway), limiting turns and turn arounds, etc. Anyone experience this sort of stuff or is this old news?

If its in the budget you wont regret staying in Surfside beach. Surfside beach hotel was very nice.
