myrtle beach????
It's ok it was the first bike rally I went to last year it rained the entire time so that kinda sucked, but other than that its fun. I live in charleston sc about 2 hours or so from there so if you do go take a ride through charleston it's a real historic place and beautiful in most places definitely stay away from north charleston. And there are lots of places to eat here. And the rally is all in murrells inlet you have like three Major bars the two beaver bars and suck bang blow. Hope to see you guys there
I would not fully agree that everything is in Murrells. Swing Bridge and Captain Poos are always a blast and there are more places like that. You just have to know where to go.
Actually it was just announced that they are opening the speedway to bike week again starting again this spring rally. They have a 5000 square foot tiki bar that they built for it and all. You can read more on http://bikeweekmb.com/.
I would have to agree that the riding is not the best out there when looking at other places like the local mountains in NC\Tennessee where I typically head out to for a scenic ride. Maggie Valley Rallys are great for that. But definitely head north and south on the coast and see some nice areas. Charleston, Wilmington, Shallotte (Beach house HD is a nice dealership).
I personally really enjoy the Myrtle Beach Rallys. I never understood the "Well, if you don't want me i ain't coming :'(" attitude towards it. My thought has always been... "you're not going to tell me where to go or scare me off.... I go where i want when i want. You don't want my money myrtle beach (proper). Then i will go to North Myrtle or Murrells Inlet who does". Then rub it in their face. In either case... i have never seen an issue 1 myself but i do what i have to to get through their areas.

Are there some other good routes to ride in addition to the "loop" of 17, 501, 701 -- like some good backroads to try?
Thanks! We're looking forward to getting down there Friday of next week. Not had a day off in a couple of months, and ready for a break.

I live close so riding down Friday. Probably be a quiet rally. Less here than at other major rallies.
Nice rides/roads if you get out the city. Back roads and BBQ joints (Sweatman's, Schulers, etc) are always a good combination. Charleston is fun and despite the warnings on N. Charleston there are really good restaurants there.
Ride north and take the Southport Ferry to Fort Fisher then up to Wilmington.
Plenty to do. Then if you want to drink at night its available.
Weather is shaping up to be perfect.

Rode down yesterday to check it out. Looks like it is going to be bigger this year from what I saw at Barefoot Landing. Funny how some places the vendors couldn't set up yet and in others they could.
Suck Bang Blow and Beaver Bar, no venders. 100 yards down the road at the Beaver Bar, Vendors.
Got back about 2:30 am and $100.00 lighter. About the only thing I bought was beer.
I'm heading back next Saturday but gonna spend the night then.

Ok all i have seen some of the threads regarding MB bike week in the spring. We were thinking of ripping down from Canada for it but we are hesitant due to the negative stuff were reading. Can i get some incite from the folks that have been last year or plan to go this year??? Dont wanna spend 13 hours each way if its gonna be a hassle all week, so please give me the straight scoop for this years deal. Teflon
We've been here since last Saturday (11th). The beginning of the week was kind of quiet. By Wednesday night it started getting busier. No problems of any kind with the police. In fact, I've seen more cages being pulled over than anything. Temperatures have been great, with today predicted to be 89*.
Plenty of back roads for riding.
Last night was pretty busy down by the boardwalk on Ocean Ave. Lots of bikes. I've actually been surprised at the number of female riders, on all kinds of bikes. Cool
