I'll be there in about 4 hours. Staying the night and come back home tomorrow afternoon/evening. Cousin is supposed to be there with about a dozen of his friends but haven't heard from him yet. Finally got ahold of my friend that rode down last Sat. to see if he was going today. Hell, he is already there.

I was at the speedway yesterday at 12:45. There may have been 200 people there. The 701 loop to to Georgetown and back up 17 is stupid. Intersection to get on 701 in Conway is confusing enough for a local much less a non-resident. Better would have been 378 to 41 to 51 to Georgetown. Better road and scenery and you get to ride along the Black River for a ways. 17 back north from Georgetown is still bad.

1 vendor at Myrtle Beach Mall (Colonial), none at the north dealership. The main dealership in Surfside didn't have nor need a single cop to help with traffic. Mid afternoon we had no problem parking at Dead Dog, SBB or the main dealership.

Horry County (excessive vendor fees and restrictions) and City of Myrtle Beach (just plain anti-bike atmosphere) with the help of Phil Schoonover (Owner of the Harley dealership) have pretty much killed the 2nd most profitable weekend of the year.

Its a shame.

Better riding here in central SC than anywhere around MB. Why people still insist on going there is beyond me.

This was my first and last time going. Too much traffic (if you get into 2nd you have done something) vendors are the same as is all the bars. No REAL riding. Stop and go. Every time you cross a street its a danger game.

I'll go again, just not for bike week. I came home early to get out of there.

People go there because thats where the bike week is not in central SC.

Going to MB while it sucks to you, which you have made very clear... is still an escape for some, and if they have family that comes with them there are things to do not bike related.

Try the fall rally in october, we had a great time down there last yr but like most have pointed out its pretty much all south of MB proper.

I didn't say it was, I said the riding was better here!

And, MB has not cornered the market on family entertainment.

But hey, to each his own as they say, and MB is not for me!

Just quoting you, you asked why people insist on going to MB.... and I told you because that's where the bike week is.

I go to surfside & murrells inlet and only wander up into mb if drug up there with the wife/daughter or someone else, when we go down. But thats because I have been going down to ocean lakes campground since the 70's as a kid with my parents, and now i take my family there as well.

As far as riding, I didn't go to Myrtle to ride. I went for the party.

Today I will do some riding. I'm headed for South Central Tn by way of the Dragon. It will be a bit over 800 miles of riding. Leaving in an hour or so.
