Texas to Kentucky
I have been discussing with the 13 yr. old Granddaughter a trip to Williamstown Ky. to see the Replica of the Ark and figure I could take a leisurely trip in 2-3 days to get there and 1-2 days there and 2-3 days back...I need some thoughts/suggestions on helping her not be so bored with places along the way for her to see and visit...places that would be of remembrance for her along the way...Thoughts?

FYI this will be a Vehicule road trip...not on the bike.

Google maps and Google earth is your friend.
My first thought is, young ones that age are very computer savvy. Maybe you could task her to chart the drive from Texas to Williamstown, Ky. Let her know where you plan to stop each night. Any town she looks up on Google maps shows nearby attractions. That might peak her interest on the drive, and allow her to pick some spots she would like to see or visit.
If you know how far you you can go on a tank of gas, let her know that mileage and she can plan where to stop and gas up, as well as see any nearby attractions. Of course, if she is not the type to do that sort of research, forget all of what I just said.
My second thought is to let her bring a friend along with you, if that's possible.
A friend, and I used to do contract work together, so we had time off to spend at the lakehouse. During summer break he would sometimes bring his daughter along with us but, she always brought a friend along so she wouldn't get bored.
It sounds like a great opportunity to bond with your Granddaughter and make some memories. Don't forget to take a lot of pictures. Y'all have a safe trip, and good luck!
