It's a beautiful area. North of Taos in the Carson Mountains, but not in winter months. I was there last October and there was light snow and temps well below freezing.

Next time take 522 out of Taos to Questa to Red River and 64 around to Eagles Nest and back to Taos etc.

I'm glad you got some riding in! Most of the snow from that last quick storm is melting off... it was like late summer/early fall prior to it. I'm hoping for a return to those temps.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have already started planning a loop up that way. Several people I spoke with in Santa Fe also recommended that area.

My only other suggestion for next time and this is really from my son who lives out there. Watch out for the crazies on the road. between red light runners and folks without tags he sees something dangerously ridiculous every day so, head on a swivel!

Absolutely. I've been to Santa Fe three times now (only once with my bike) but have seen my share of crazies. Being from MA, I am always looking out for bad/dangerous drivers. Thanks for the reminder though, it is appreciated.
