Well I live in the SF Bay Area and am thinking about taking the wife out to Yosemite. I'm going to take hwy 120 out there. I've lived here all my life (27 years) and have never been to this park. Anything I should avoid or anywhere I should definitely go? Any info would be appreciated!
Bring warm clothing (no matter what time of year). You don't know what type of weather to expect and it can change without notice. You HAVE to visit the Sequoia trees. There's a walking path and its well worth the hour. Do a google search on the park because there's to much to list here.
It is a beautiful ride all the way through to Hiway 395 and back. Take your time, make sure you take a camera and after you come back out Hiway 49 north is a beautiful clear to Hiway 80 and if you have the time 49 goes up into the Sierra valley. If you haven't ridden in the Sierras spend some time up there you won't be disappointed.
Stop in Groveland and have a drink at the Iron Door Salon. I always like to take Old Priest Grade road on the way up and New Priest Grade road on the way down. Both end up at the same place, just like doing it that way.
If she is in to horses there is a place in wawona across from the gas station that offers trail rides. I have riden in the area a few times and pretty nice stuff to see.
