been working on this new to me 1995 883 it had way too big jets in it 48 pilot dyno kit 190 main replaced to kein 45 pilot and 165 main bike was running too lean i had to keep enricher pulled out to keep running no intake leaks i checked that also but could this be a float problem making it run to lean mabey that why the previous owners put in huge jets to make bike run
I'd check for intake leaks, or maybe a vacuum port open? My CA carb has an additional vacuum port that should be plugged if no vacuum can.
45 pilot should be fine for an 883, even a 1200.
Does your bike have a dynojet carb kit? I thought the mainjets were threaded differently than the Keihin mainjet? And the numbers are different for the same size openings too, I believe.
yea i used a can of wd40 around intake gaskets top to bottom side to side all around them also the one on carb no leaks i had to change out emulsion tube to make the kein jet to work it did have a dyno kit tube and jet the float is the only thing i havnt checked its one of those things i dont fool with unless you have to lol
Just a newb question? Have you done the idle fuel mix adjustment on the screw located on bottom of carb. I had the same issue on my 89, once i replaced jets 42 pilot and dyno 165, I adjusted the screw back to or close to factory and have not had issue since.
just replaced today with new stock emulsion tube and 165main and 45pilot waiting on weather to put carb back on bike it -25 below windchill tomorrow brrrrrrr these jets was in bike when i bought a month ago so i got new intake and exhaust gaskets also for when that warmer day comes again
mad jak...the float level (at idle and low rpms) won't make much difference with the fuel mix...but it is easy enough to check, with the carb off the bike, float bowl removed, turn carb over (upside down) and the float should be level with the edge of the carb. body where it meets the float bowl, if the float tilts up or down you need to bend the little tang that contact the float needle....(for the rest of you) I know this is not how the book says to do it, but it gets the same results as the book...
