With only a 1" lift I doubt you'll experience any significant loss of range.
In my opinion it seems that any tank lift, be it 1" or otherwise is hardly worth the effort since there are some here and elsewhere who have experienced unexpected difficulties after undertaking the usually associated wire tuck mod, such as crossed wires, especially after removing electrical connectors, resulting in lighting, gauge and ignition problems that otherwise would have remained non issues.
So think a little more about the wire tuck, and determine if that extra space you intend on creating between the fuel tank and top of the engine is really worth the exercise or any percieved advantage other than a particular look. I for one think the MoCo's layout of fuel tank, factory ignition and wiring harness to be adequately arranged as is but don't let my opinion sway you either way...do as you please, and best wishes whatever you decide.

Has anybody here performed a wire tuck on a 2006 883R or similar bike using a 2" lift? How did you go about doing it? And how did you separate the plastic clip thing that's attached under the top tube of the frame with the harness running through it? It appears to be made of two halves but I couldn't get it to separate without feeling like it was about to break.

We make and sell tank lift kits....so we have an interest in them...lol
However, it is easy to do a wire tuck without a tank lift, check out this thread-

Personally, I like the look of a tank lift, wire tuck and relocated coil & key.
It is a relatively inexpensive mod that significantly improves the look of a sporty (to me).
With a 1.5" tank lift, range is going to be un-affected, unless you ride til it's sputtering...in which case it will start sputtering 5-10 miles earlier.
If your "range" is until the light goes on, with the 1.5" lift it will go on 5-10 miles sooner, but you will still have about 3/4's of a gallon of usable fuel left.
This bike, with a 2.1 gallon tank, has a coil relo, key relo, 1.5" tank lift and a wire tuck-
