Default Removing Plastic crap

tell me gents,... what do I HAVE to do in order to remove the plastic stuff under my tank? Is getting the 2 inch tank lift necessary? I'd rather keep my tank at it's current location. Also, do I HAVE TO relocate the ignition? I really just want the plastic gone. Thanks

I've herd guys call It a "wire tuck",,where they hide the wires better,,
search it.
I've seen tank lifts with that plastic you speak of gone,,never thought to ask
how they did It.
I never wanted to raise my center of gravity,,lifting 4.5 gallons of fuel and tank 2" up front,,
No thanks,,
Does look good tho.

Definitely don't want to lift the tank if you're into the twisties but most people who do the tank lift do a 2" or so and tuck the wires on top of the frame under the tank tunnel. The plastic can then be removed. Most also move the coil to the left side between the cylinders. Made my own tank lift brackets but some buy them on-line (ebay) or buy "U" bolts at Home Depot and use the flat metal piece off those.

No you don't have to relocate the coil or ignition. You might have to lift the tank about .5" or so but it will be tight. Most guys lift it about 2" because its much easier to tuck the wires with 2 extra inches of room under the tank.

You actually don't need to lift the tank at all. People do it because it's easier and it makes the bike look more agressive. To completely clean up above the front head, you will need to relocate your coil, but you can keep it there too if you like. The ignition relocation is for ***** 'n gigs. It's just neat to do, that's all. You can keep it where it is.

Have you done one without lifting the tank? Right now I have my bike all torn down for winter mods, and want to tuck the wires, but do not want to lift the tank. My tank already has the "lifted" look due to the frame job I had done, and don't want to move it anymore.
I really haven't looked at it much yet, just tore it all apart for now. But if you have done this, please give me some advice and guidance.
Thanks!

I have NOT done it personally, but it can be done. Below is a pic of the RSD Nightster. NO tank lift, but wires hidden. It CAN be done

RSD bike cleaned up the wires without the awful tank lift which looks horrible--"let me see how much I can elevate my gas tank".

To each his/her own. Whatever RSD did to clean up the clutter is the route to go in my opinion.
