Default Michelin Scorcher - Slippery When Wet

Those michelin scorchers that are on the sportster from the shop are so slippery when wet, it's down right scary!

I've experienced it before and then today again. Wet roads and they just won't track.

My previous bike was an old BMW from 1980 with Metzeler tyres. That ancient old bike without abs was so much safer in wet conditions than my 2015 sportster Iron with Michelin Scorchers.

There was one day i was stuck in the rain and rushing to a gas station for cover, didnt see an intersection, slid all the way through it. I agree that the grip when it is wet is sub par. I also dont have much experience with wet road conditions on various tires either.

Got Scorchers on my SuperLow and they are fine. If yours have only a few miles on them they may improve after a few hundred miles. In any event it is wise to replace them, when you decide to, with European brand ones (not Harley-specific!) for riding on our European roads. My preferred 'Harley' tyre is Avon.

Ive put 3,500 miles on them and they're still extremely slippery when wet.

That's interesting - I now realise that you have different sizes to me. Quite frankly I suggest you dump them for another brand. I've mentioned Avon, whose Cobras are British old chap (hence European!). I have Metzelers on my Buell and they are fine, although the wrong model for a Sporty. Pirelli and Continental also are worth considering, from what I've read around H-D circles.

My mechanic told me that he prefers the pirelli night dragon. Do you have any experience with them?

when i change ill buy the pirelli but wider then stock maybe 160 ore 170mm on the rear
but i have not had any problems here in aarhus the last 2 weeks on the standart Hd tire, it has been wet this week when i was out riding but not raining had no problems maybe your not fat enough to push the bike down into the road he he

To be honest I only used them once on a Harley and that was a long time ago, so my experience back then isn't relevant today.

According to Avon you can buy their tyres through Inge Jacobsen at Max MC. You are in the EU and can buy most things across your borders, so no excuses! Before you buy wider than stock tyres tell us what your bike is and we can help recommend the maximum that will fit.
