Hi guys, thanks for setting up this forum and all the info and insight held here, it has given me a great deal of help in the short time I have been aware of it. I did try to locate a line on my problem which is which tang on the float on my 79, sportster carb (butterfly)do i bend, there seems to be two that influence the height of the float, one on the pivot side and one that the needle is hooked to, the one on the pivot side hits the needle seat, which limits the float movement and the other one holds the needle. thanks for any and all help Drew
Is this a S&S carb then? That's what I had installed on my '79.
Some carbs have the correct fuel level cast into the exterior of the float bowl. You may want to look for such a line. My experience on Mikuni carbs was to keep the tang parallel to the surrounding metal, even if on a different plane. Good luck.
