Default Replacing the clutch cover. I found oil there

Hello everyone.

I dropped my bike recently and the clutch cover was slightly damaged.

I decided to replace the cover and there was oil there. Is that normal?

Clutch cover - you do mean the big round cover on the left side? That's an oil bath for the clutch, primary chain and transmission in there, and also you have to take that cover off to add oil, not to be be confused with the engine oil tank under the seat on the right side.

Check out this video, and it should answer your questions.

Thanks, and it is on the left side. It has been leaking since I replaced the cover. Any suggestions?

thanks again.

you may have pinched the gasket. no big deal. take the cover off, clean the area well, double check the gasket (should be seated in the channel running around the opening), carefully put cover on and tighten in a crosswise (star) pattern. careful... the little screws love to strip and the primary cover is made of butter.

I would suggest a HD Service Manual for your bike. It' will be money well spent.
Somewhere around $50-$60.
