Changed seat
Just put a biltwell sporty 8 seat on my 72. Any suggestions on the little section right in front of the seat? When I took the old one off it is pretty scratched and shoes now. Not a huge deal but now I know it's there. Pics attached.
Also. Not sure you can tell, but the tank around the fuel cap looks quite dull from the original owner. Wondering if a good wax would shine it up ? don't mind the rain spots

For the tank area dullness around fuel cap use some meguires scratch x and microfiber cloth. Make sure tank is clean before doing this however or you'll probably make it worse. Follow up with a good quality wax. For scratches near seat, if its through to the primer I would recommend getting a matching paint pen and clear paint pen from Colorite and touch it up carefully. Rub with the scratch x once the paint cures and wax. I've had great luck with Colorite paint.

How do you like the 72? I currently have 2 Dyna's and a vintage sporty but have had the itch to get a more modern 5 speed sportster for running around town. The 72 style speaks to me since I'm a child of the chopper, flower power generation. There's a used Harley dealer locally that has several low mileage 72's for sale. Very tempting.

Hey Sandman, Unfortunately I have only gotten a couple of small rides in other than the 60 mile ride from the shop I bought it in. She definitely a quick little bike and I got it exactly for that reason, hop around town, no long rides. Compared to my Street Glide its like riding a pedal bike lol...but I think I am going to grow to love it. It takes turns great.

PULL THE TRIGGER and DO IT!!
I really enjoy my 72, spent months looking for the right one, (no abs/alarm/fob) and in the hard candy blue (2015 year only) and I finally found one still new in June 2016...since then have over 7K miles on it. been to 7 different states, 4 national parks and spent several 500 mile days on it.
a lot of buys are worried about the small gas tank, I get about 55miles around town/commute to work before the light comes on. and highway 2-up I get in the mid 70s, (cruising 70-ish and camping gear on bike)....in both cases I go about another 20 miles then stop at the closest gas station. Bike is stock AC/exhaust.

I had a 1200 Custom with a Sundowner seat and could ride that thing all day long, my 72 with the springer solo wasn't any different at all.
IMHO, the 72 is a blast.
