Default Oil for sportster

I was recently able to kick over my sportster (I'm 17yr and small) and I'm just wonder info what kinda oil I need, cause I was planning on doing an oil change. It's an 79 sportster xlch. Thanks. Another question.. do you just drain the old oil from the tank then fill it up with new oil?

If you don't have a full time job, then buy this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/SUPERTECH-20W50-QT/16565377

I run Valvoline VR1 SAE50 in my ironhead. Any standard straight 50, or 60 in hot weather, will do.

I'm biting my tongue as I type this because you are asking that question.....the one with as many answers as ********.

I use Castrol PowerRS V-Twin 4T 20W-50 synthetic in the engine.

Any quality 20W-50 will do IMHO.

Good luck and happy trails.

That Mobil 1 15-50 from Walmart all day long. Fram filter they sell there too.

If you take it out of the box and swap it into one of those Walmart brand Supertech boxes, it's only like $2.38 for the filter
