Default Hardware Question

So last night I managed to bust a bolt, should have been paying more attention to the task at hand. Anyways, the part number is 3976 in the manual for my 2008 xl883. No shops in San Diego have it, but there is a hardware shop not far from me that has everything I could need, including chrome Grade A. The bolt hold the anti rotating plastics on the lifters. Guy at the Harley shop wouldn’t give me the thread or length. Spent some time on google, can’t find anything. Any help with finding the specifics of the bolt or a good website to use would be greatly appreciated!

not sure, but do you have the top half that you broke off..........take it to the hardware store and measure the thread pitch, they can do it for you

your gonna have to get the rest out.....now you got the length

Getting it out is taking some finesse at the moment. But once that’s done seems like it’ll be my Only option.

Can you remove another one (that's not broken) and take that one to the hardware store to match up?

If you search the HD SIP sight for your year and model, 2008 Sportster, you can find the online HD parts manual.
Use the search at the top right hand side.
https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson....cle/lookupForm

It includes many of the parts thread size length etc in the hardware list.
You can search for the part number, with the manual open, the search is on the left hand side,
after searching click the down arrow to scroll through the hits for the part number.
