you know how it is you rebuild an engine and just AS you put the last few bolts in 1 of the buggers snaps, no issues drill it out then you find you cant get the ruddy thread out so your left with the option of over drilling and helicoiling or timeserting it. that would be fine if harley would tell you the ruddy thread sizes they use, anyone got any ideas as so far ive been told its unc, unf, af so i aint got a clue

Yea that as well as both metric and SAE are on a Harley. Bolt size info is listed in the back of the Parts Manual.
Now, if you don't have a Parts Manual, someone could probably look it up for you, but you didn't bother to list the bolt in question.
With care broken bolts can be removed and don't need any repair. If you go to 'Search' in the blue bar above and use the 'advanced' feature to search for 'broken bolt' you will find plenty of help.
Failing that your local dealer or indy can probably get it out for you.
