Would I change it? Yes. Frankly I would have changed it a year ago, but that's just me. Do I really think it needs to be changed? No. If I had to bet I would say if you sent in a sample it would test out fine, especially since it's synthetic.

do it yourself. Less than $100. Cheap insurance.
Same as tires... at 5 years, time to change.
An old battery will let you know...

Bike, yes, change. Right, wrong or indifferent. I don't waste oil like that. I use it in my lawn mower or the like. As hot as that stuff gets moisture doesn't last long.

Every season - engine oil, trans oil, chain case oil, fork oil, brake fluids, oil filter, gas filter and air filter.
Then the oil and filter again near the end of the season.
And on my Honda the antifreeze and shaft oil too
It's fun.

Like it has been said above, it probably doesnt need one but for the small amount of time snd money, it can't hurt. Engine oil and a new filter are cheap enough (price is creeping up though, damn).

Mr Harper, relax. 4,000 between oil changes is great. The amount of time it takes to get there does not matter. It's all about the mileage.

If it’s clear and clean I’d ride it like it is.

Thanks TST, I agree. I know you've got one of the oldest (and nicest!) bikes on the forum and I certainly respect your opinions. Same as when I read comments from OC, BZ, and BXL.

Agreed, plus the oil test cost as much as a oil change assuming you do it yourself

I use non synthetic as it's not going to be in there long enough to justify the price difference of an oil that lasts longer.
And from what I read that's the only advantage of synthetic oil. And there are advantages of using dino oil.
Although that seems to be one of the most debated issues that and whether to use premium or regular gas and ethanol neutralizers and stabilizers.
Even further down the rabbit hole is the people so tied to one brand like Amsoil or die.
