With the Canadian Dollarstronger than the U.S. the Canadian products become more expensive to U.S. customers. This will cut into Canadian exports dramatically as the US is Canada's largest customer. I wouldn't be so quick to celebrate.

I'm gathering up all my Canadian change and exchanging it. And to think, back when I was struggling, I'd pray that thegas station attendant wouldn't notice mychangeusually consisted of 90% Canadian quarters and pennies.
All joking aside, manufacturing jobs are slim pickings these days. I've lost two jobs due to plant closures,by the time I'm 35 I'll probably be a supply demand analyst for a toilet paper company based in China.
It will be interesting to see the effect of the entire "sub-prime lending fall-out" has on the economy. I was listening to the BBC and they had a segment dealing with how some American finance companies conned low income homeowners into refinancing their mortgages with a 1% ARM. They verbally told these homeowners they could refinance and get a conventional loan as soon as interest rates started to rise. It was sad to listen to the elderly homeowners who are now being foreclosed on, because the payments exploded before they could refinance.
