Believe or not, the last time a Canadian dollar was worth the same as the U.S. dollar was in 1976, I wish I can cross the border and buy a brand new Road King and save $2,000 + tax lol.

 

Deeley is loving this, the bikes and parts are costing them 20% less and they are charging us the same!
There is a guy in Camrose Alberta buying bikes from US dealers and selling them cheaper than the "authorized" dealers, it's really pising off the local dealers but they can't stop him.

 

Don, I still want to know if I can bring a brand new bike from state to here without a US address, I found a brand new 07 Street Bob at Skagit Harley last sunday, price dropped to $13,500. PM me if you know.

Even worse than that, and as of a few minutes ago the value of a CAD is more than that of a USD.

(1.00 CAD = 0.998533 USD)

Been a LONG time since the USD was worth less than the CAD, and it just goes to show you how much the value ofU.S. dollar is falling on the worldwide market...

I deal somewhat with the currency market, and the U.S. dollar is no longer a 'safe bet' when it comes to market value. [8D]

 

Your right but it isn't as bad as it looks for the greenback, while your dollar has dropped against world markets ours has been rising so the difference between the two is the sum of both a rise and a drop. [sm=smiley23.gif]

HOTLAP, You must be talking about "House of Thunder" in Camrose. I'd heard rumours about them but didn't know they were importing US bikes. Sounds like a good deal for the customer cause we are currently getting screwed on new bike prices.

 

Yes it is House of Thunder, from what I have heard Deeley made it clear to all Canadian dealers that they would be cut off if they sold to him but there is nothing to stop him from buying from US dealers who arn't under the gun from Deeley.
I think he just has to change the speedo to a metric one and certify that it meets all Canadian motor vehicle requirments.
One thing to consider though is that he can not do warranty work and you can imagine how happy an "authorized" dealer is to take care of all your warranty needs once they find out that you bought it from him, I don't think that they can refuse to do the work but your not going to get good service at all, in fact they may intentionally screw you around with "the parts are on back order" kind of BS.

 

With the Canadian Dollarstronger than the U.S. the Canadian products become more expensive to U.S. customers. This will cut into Canadian exports dramatically as the US is Canada's largest customer. I wouldn't be so quick to celebrate.
