Ithink I answered this samepost from you on the XL forum but I'll post it here again.

I had my 883 converted to a 1250 by using a NRHS kit that consisted of the jugs and pistons. Kept everything else stock except for the ignition which I used a SE 1200 one at first then a TC88A.
The power was great, the rpms were a little high but not that bad in my opinion.
The oil usage I experienced however was very bad. It used a quart every 500 miles. A few others have had the same luck with theirs and it is an ongoing problem that has never been solved. Just wanted to let you know there is a possibility of this happening.
I got tired of dumping oil in the bike so I ended up trading it in for the Street Bob I have now.[/align]
As far as I know it was only with the 2004 and up bikes that had that problem and it was the 1250 kits only.

Yep the problem seems to be with 04 and up Sportys and I believe the original poster has an 06 Sporty. I'm not so sure it's only 1250 conversions having the problem though. I know of one other person with a 1200 conversion experiencing the excessive oil use, who knows if there are more or he is the exception?
If you are going to do it though sandman460 I would go with the HD 1200 conversion since at least you have some kind of warranty should some problem arise.

Just boring the jugs and using a set of reverse dome pistons works perfect you willget a large bump in performance. You will need to rejet the carb and you don't need to change the ignition the 1200 gets alone just fine with the 883 module.

Yep.Thats my friends bike. You have to remember, even if you don't get fancy with the head work, or change cams etc.-your still bumping up your displacement by what-almost 40%?Thats a pretty huge difference.
