Default Which Rear Shock to get?

I’ve been reading a lot about progressive shock on this site, and I want to do the upgrade.

I have a 06” Custom –

Stock shock on the lowest setting
Ideally, I’d like to lower it an inch or so, definitely not heighten
I’m 5”8, 150 pounds and find that I bottom out on medium to large bumps. Ouch!
I’d like more travel, and ride 2 up 20% of the time.[/ul]

Which length should I install? 11.5, 12, 12.5?

Thanks!

A,I just put progressive 440 standards on my 2007 1200C, I put 13.5 inch ones on but would go for 13s if I could do it over. The outside bottom shock retaining washer just barely touches the muffler when the bike is on the jack. I ground the washer flat on one edge and just barely misses the muffler now. The 13sgive you plenty of travel I weigh 185and run the shocks one turn ffrom the softest setting.

Arod and Thomas, when sitting on the side stand it sits higher but when I got on board it sits exactly where it sat with the stockers. I ran the stockers in the third step up and these nearly at the softest setting. This setting is very near the center of the travel on the 13.5 inchers.
