Default Rear shocks

I'm looking to swap out for longer travel shocks and wondered if anyone has checked out Works Performance. Ohlins would be great, but don't make anything for Softails.

Works offers 4" travel, don't know about Progressive.

I don't care for the stock factory lowering - what I want is all the lean angle I can get out of this thing, in addition to keeping the tire on the turf.

Haven't heard of them but I'm probably going with Shotgun Shocks. I contacted them and they gave a decent mil discount.

I think you will really like the choice you are making Blake USMC Vet. If you want maximum, matching and a more stable front end check out the Progressive monotubes. Just food for thought.

Shotgun Shock for the rear and Progressive Mono-Tube for the front is the only way to go IMHO.

Softails normally sit low anyway so the extra length shocks, Works performance, Ohlins etc. wont do any good for the extra ground clearance beyond the max height and with them installed you will limit the amount of travel as the shock can only compress so far because of the extra length shock and it will feel like you have no shock at all because there will be no give to the shock.

With the SS at least you can adjust the height to the max and the firmness and rebound of the rear shock and still have the full travel of the rear shock system and with the Progressive Mono-Tube it gets rid of the front fork nose dive when braking and firms up the front forks for a better feel and steering condition, my

I'll do some checking on the SS setup, but am cynical going into it. The air shocks on my 2010 Road King sucked...

Air shocks on a Road King and a Softail are two different animals. Check with JD at SS, or this forum, and see if their are any SS owners in your area who might let you try out their bike and see the difference.

Hell, I don't know how far you are from JD's shop but if you can, go visit him, he's always open to people walking in and talking. He will probably even put you on a bike for a test ride!! To be honest though, you can't learn it in one day.

It took me my entire first season on them to learn and understand them. I'm not a "set and forget" kinda guy, I play with mine all day. I have to use it just to get in and out of my driveway. I have not said much about them the past year or more, I don't have to any more, many, many others has gone to it and they talk it up. You will also get customer service unmatched by any other vendor on any other product.

To be honest Dude? I'm not really sure! I am pulling my bike out to Fort Collins CO where I have a nephew and from there we are starting out by going south on a 4 state ride. We then are going to ride and work our way around to end up is Sturgis. There will be about 10 of us and I'm just going to pull up behind everyone else and pulling up the rear. I have no ego, more than happy to ride last, in fact, I prefer it! I hope to meet up with a few guys from here too. Iv never been so someone with knowledge should pick out a time and place a few times a week and do some face to face time.

I been dealing with JD now for a few years so if he goes I am 100% sure I will be meeting him and hanging out around his vendor booth/tent for a bit while Im there.
