is there a way to make the tank on my 02 1200c look like a nightster? are they mounted higher or something cause i like the look of the nightster but could afford what i could afford.
Not exactly sure if the nightster tank sits higher than ours or not, but you could do a tank lift on the front to get it just slightly higher. \\;\\\\\\;
the customs sit more level where as the nightsters and lows have a lower rear so the tank goes upward. so you could lower the rear of your custom with shocks and get a peanut tank if u rele wanted that look. but otherwise its mostly jus because the way the bike sits
I thought it was because HD redesigned the peanut tank in 04 or something... eBay has tank lifts if you want that solution though... The bike angle adds to the look, I'm sure. You could always just get a smaller/lower headlight or lower bars to psychologically change the tank height too.
The paint also adds to the look. Take a real close look next time you'll see what I mean. You can do alot to the looks of a scoot with some good graphics effects.
Nate00 already has a peanut tank. \\;\\\\\\; It's just the pre-'04 design, which isn't much different than the newer version. \\;\\\\\\; The nightster has the re-designed peanut tank that leaves a space between the tank and seat, or that could be due to the frame alteration in the "04 &\\; up models. \\;\\\\\\; After looking at some pictures of various nightsters, it looks that the tanks mount in almost the exact same place up front. \\;\\\\\\; Also the nightsters have lower front shocks, and not sure how much lower the rears are than Nate00's '04 custom...I'd say may atmost an inch or two. \\;\\\\\\;
Your best bet and cheapest is to fab yourself a tank lift.I don't know how tough this is to do with a Sporty but it's a simple thing with a big twin.Check the Dyna forum there's a How To - under 50$ thread with probably a half dozen different ways to make a tank lift.
