Default 2005 custom electrical problem

My 2005 1200 custom has an electrical issue.&nbsp\\; Key in ACC position bike has juice.&nbsp\\; In On position no juice.&nbsp\\; Pulled batt, load test, no dead cell with 10.9 Volts.&nbsp\\; Hooked up to charger, checked all connections, cleaned connections at starter and battery, checked all fuses.&nbsp\\; Is it simply too low on the voltage?&nbsp\\; Why would it show power in the ACC but not On position?&nbsp\\;

Key/Ignition switch could have went bad, or loose wire to it...[&:]

10.9 is to low. The battery should read between 12-12.5 vdc with no load. The additional amp load of the lights when you switch to the ON position is likely causing the voltage to drop to nothing. Charge or replace the battery.

after you charged it what was the voltage. I'd say this is probably the original battery and it is shorted. 10.9 volts indicates that you have 2 shorted (dead) cells. I doubt that charging it will do anything meaninful. A good battery discharged should read about 12.6 volts with no load. Charged it should read almost 13 or slightly above with no load. You got 3 good years out of that battery, time for a replacement.

Yes it sounds like the battery, only other thing you might try is some electrical contact cleaner spray in the ignition switch, may have some soap scum or corrosion on the contacts in there.

Glad you got it sorted, and thanks for telling us, a lot of times we never hear back as to what it was after all.

The electrical system can be a bitch.&nbsp\\; I'm getting educated on that in a hurry.&nbsp\\; In the mean time, I'm riding a SWEET Road King, but I miss my Sporty....it's a lot more fun.
