i got a bike from my father and dont really know to much about harleys and iam leaking oil by where the pipes are and dont know if this is a really big problem or not. can someone help
Without knowing more about your bike and specific location of the oil I would guess that you are talking about "oil blow by". This is a pretty well known issue with sportsters. I know if I beat the snot out of mine I will get alot of oil on the pipes and side of the oil tank. This is excess oil that gets spit out of the air filter.
I would google "sportster oil blow by" and see if that helps you clear things up. If not, reply with more info and someone will help. There are a couple things you can do to route the excess oil through a drain tube but I find it easier to just wipe it down while it's hot.
The last thing I will mention is to be sure you check your oil before each ride.
