Default Windshield Question

I recently purchased a Quick Detach windshield from a friend. It is the tall version (26 inches) and I find that the height is giving me some problems since the top is right in the line of vision. I noticed in my parts catalog that there is a 22 inch tall version of the same windshield.

My question is: Can you purchase just the Lexan portion of the windshield or do you have to buy the whole damned thing -- brackets and all. Also, is the hardware and frame the same for the two different heights of windshield so that one can just change out the Lexan.

You can by replacement shields in different hgts. from memphis shades but if you jsut want shorter all you have to do is cut it down which is what most do. If you can't do it then take it to a glass shop and have them do it (most work with lexan, poly, plexi etc. all the time) and I'm sure woudl cut it down and polish the edge for cheap.

Not a difficult job to cut it down. Basically masking tape both sides, swing an arc with a fine line from the center, cut with a saber saw, file and sand to a smooth edge. Here is a link:

yea, you can cut it down yourself. really easy. tape it off, use a template to measure how much you want off and cut it down as mentioned above and sand finish. good luck and let us know how it turns out.

The answer to your question is yes. Although I have cut down my own windshields in the past, it can be handy having two at different heights. Swapping the hardware from one to the other isn't that hard.

I have been planning on doing this to my bike. I now have the incentive to do it. Thanks Dorkman.
