hey guys...
a neighbor of mine wants me to cut her windshield down about 5 inches smaller in the height.
i suggested she just buy another shield, and sell this one but...its her call.
i have a table mount scroll saw, bench grinder, buffing wheel...ect.
my question is: will it crack????
i am under the assumption its made of lexan. i plan on taping the cut line with electrical tape, and slowly cutting it on my scroll saw. then deburr and buff the edges to match whats already there.
has anyone done this before and how'd it go?
she knows im not held reliable if it cracks or breaks, as im not charging her.
i appreciate all yer responses!
thanks.
Check this site out on how to cut a windshield.
My bud did this process on his fatboy windshield, but he only took a couple of inches off.
When he was done it looked 99%. He had one little booboo ,You know the one where only you can see it!

Will not crack if saw does not chatter. You have a good plan ,just go slow and use a kind of fine tooth blade.Measure twice cut once.Make sure the top comes to her nose to be able to see over and still have protection.
I did mine on my r k used a lil router tool w/ around type cutter bit grease pencil & painter's tape 1 12pak a extra hand lots of slow moving with the tool & one heck of a mess later i scuffed the edge with fine sand paper .Don't slip it could f##k your day good luckI If i did it again i would check out the glass co cleaner for you .maybe money well spent .
I did this with no problem at all, did the cut with a dremel tool and a plastic cutter (to allow for my aux. headlights) then decided to take 3" off the top very nice and very easy to do, just need a steady hand.
bcpdr @yahoo.com if you need to know the details,,, glad to help you

I had 4" taken off my windshield the other day. Local plastic company did it for $25 bucks and it looks factory good.
I can tell you though, they let me know up front they weren't responsible for any errors or if it broke.
Sounds like it is easy enough to do, it just depends on if you trust your own hand.
