Default Germany problem..

Well I moved to Germany (PCS'd) and am trying to get my motorcycle over here so I can ride. The FreedomFinancial, who I have my loan through, will not let me ship the bike overseas. Little did I know this before I shipped the bike with my household goods, anybody know of any way I can refinance through someone overseas and how that works or?

If I understand right, you have already shipped the Bike? If so keep making the payments and everything should be fine. I would think as long as you are current on the payments they would not want worry where the bike is.

Hey, if the finance company doesn't like it tell them to get the bike financed in a manner that suits "your" needs as it's your bike, not theirs, until you stop making the payments. Next thing you know the finance company will be telling us how and where it must be garaged.

haha okay, well i haven't been late on a payment or anything, i don't get it. I did already ship the bike, just don't know how that's gonna go with getting it registered or anything. My wife says the finance company will know where it's registered, how?

I assume your in the service? You Might try and see if the Credit Union on Post will assume/takeover the loan? As far a registration go's you got no problem. Unfortunately you'll need to get insurance for Germany before you can register. It's the Insurance company that will report to the Finance Co.(as Fin Co's need to know your bike has insurance). You might try telling the insurance co. that its not financed, but then your financer will still need documentation that you have insurance.(even if you told them the bike's in storage).

I don't want to appear a know it all but have just moved from the US to Italy with two bikes.

In CA we chose to finance the bikes as it made sense, but when we came to ship them our shippers refused to ship unless we held the titles.

We had about a week to run around, get the bikes paid off and the titles sent to the shippers. They told us that no US finance company would support the loan outside of the US. The European customs also needed to see proof of ownership which was the second reason for us needing the titles.

A simple finance agremeent is not sufficient and does not prove ownership. You can only ride US bikes for six months in Europe on US plates and then either ship them back or get them registered in the country you are living in - if you register them you will definitely need to have the title. If you ride on US plates you cannot get European insurance but will need a US company (motorcycle express) who can insure you for six months - expensive but good cover.

Sorry if this sounds all abot alarmist but this is what we have experienced coming to Europe with HD's - hope this is some help.

am in the service. I'll try out the credit union on base. I just want to ride! I don't really have the funds to pay it off..so that's out of the question.

Repossession is the problem. It's a HUGE one for the finance company should you fail in your part to make payments.
