Default Electrical Problem?

Has anyone experienced this scenerio...
Went to start my 2000 1200C this morning after not starting for about two weeks. Cracked the throttle once before cranking which I found helped start it when it sat for a couple of weeks.
The engine turned about half a turn and then everything shut down. lights went out and speedo went out.
Turned the key to excessory and speed came back on. (dim at first then normal) (still no lights)
figured maybe the battery had run down so I put it on charge. While on charge I checked it in "run"...lights came back on but speedo was "pulsing".
Let it charge for a while and went to start...solenoid is rapping like crazy (as if it had plenty of juice) but engine won't turn.

Question: Could my starter be seized or shorted?

(also shunted the main breaker to see if it had tripped...no lights...didn,t try to crank with shunt in place)

Could rally use some ideas here before paying the repair shop...!

Thanks to all in advance,

Rick C.

I would say the battery is bad. It doesn't take a lot of power to make the solenoid chatter. A load test would prove it.

Had almost the same thing happen to me, what I found was loose ground on the battery.

Thanks...I'll check that tonight after work. I did try to move it and found it was tight but that doesn't mean it isn't corroded...the negative post is hard to see!
