battery question

battery question
My battery was dead and I recharged it with my trickle charger now it starts up runs OK but I wanna know when the battery is low does the bike run different that is will it sputter or run worse than normal? I've been told different yes, no, maybe so can you guys provide any answers? I have a 2000 the battery is original. Thanks for any input.

I've always heard if you get much more than two years out of a motorcycle battery you're doing good.
It may give you a bit of trouble cranking the bike, or it may just die. You're lucky so far, running on a 6 year old battery. I'd go ahead and get another one.

SportyReb is right. Six years on any battery is a lot to ask for, especially one as small as a bike battery. Seems like car batteries are good for about four years, and often less. Best to replace it before it lets you down in a place you don't want to be.

Well if the battery is trully dying, then yes it will start to sputter and run bad. Speaking from personal experience. Seems the ignition gets all screwed up and the speedo and tach go all haywire. I don't think just low will do it tho, it's either off or on as far as juice.
