I'm a new rider with a sportster 2005 1200c

I want to change my tank for a smaller tank like the 883 or 3.3 li

Could you tell me wich year i should look that will fit the better without to much modifications

why on earth would you want to do that? It looks so much better with the big tank.

 

Say's who? A lot of sporty people think the 4.5 gallon tank looks fugly. The "Peanut" styling/shape has always been "Sportster".....Anyway, to answer the OP question, I think it's any '04 through '06 tank should fit. Not sure if the '07 & up have the same mounting design as the '04-'06's or not. I know they changed the mounting a bit in '04 though from the '03 & priors.

easy bolt on,maybe one two beers and a smoke ?
pointer here is: try and get petcock with the 3.3 tank already installed,then its a matter of half a beer job

i had a small tank on mine but got the shitz of stopping all the time for gas.

 

Definitely NOT 07, that's when the Sporty went to EFI.

 

Yup, I completely forgot about the change to fuel injection in '07.
