This response probably won't help you any but-go with what you like, not what other people like. If you have a technical or installation question then go for it. But when it comes to the will this or that look good what do you think questions you will get so many conflicting responses that you end up more confused than when you started. Or at least that is what happens to me. Personally, I am in the middle of installing 1.5" risers with some 14" narrow apes. Had wideglide bars 10" with the stock custom risers. The height was right and felt great, but I did not like the look with the factory riser. So I went with the above setup because it kept the bar height the same but looks better. IMO.
