Angry wiring prob ?

Ok ,,Got a 08 nightster with 400 mi on it, from a kid that hacked it up !
I just put T Bars on it , long story short .
I just got it somwhat back together, turned the key & crossed my fingers, LIGHTS !!! wow But !! The high beam was on, hit the switch to put on low beam & POP fuse! DAM !
So bike has (high beam, running lights) thats it, no brake or turn sigz or low beam that blows the fuse ?
Any Ideas ? this sucks ..........

If it's been hacked up as you say,,,,,,,
You'll find a full set of electrical schematic drawings in the back of the Service Manual.

Buy the manual, you won't find any short answers here if someone else has done a hack job on the wiring.

My idea would be to go and buy a manual so you can look at the wiring diagram and figure out what those 3 circuit have in common. I would bet you have a bare wire somewhere.

No the bike does not have to be running to get brake lights or turn signals. It should do it when you turn the key all the way on.

if its hacked that bad you may want to look for a replacement harness
and redo it correctly

Just work on one circut at a time, the headlight circut is pretty simple and may be the root of all your problems.
Power comes from the ignition thru the fuse you blew then via the BLUE wire to the high beam switch, you obviously have a good line on the high beam WHITE wire so don't worry about that, it's the YELLOW wire that feeds the low beam and your problem has to be somewhere in that YELLOW wire between the switch and the headlight. (probably pinched at the left grip)
Once you get that working try the rest, if the rest isn't working after you get the headlight fixed repost and we will track down that circut.

The signals feed thru the TSM so DO NOT use a test light on anything in that circut, in fact you should always use a volt meter/multi tester on everything these days as they have high resistance and will not allow a power surge thru the computer components in the TSM, a test light can fry electronics.
Here is the wiring diagram, you can right click on the attachment and click "open link" then you can zoom in to see it better.
