Default Throttle issue

Need a little advice please.

I went to look at a 2006 1200 Custom. The throttle cable is frozen, in the full position. I took the upper cable cover off and the cables do not seem bound. Lookin in with a flashlight the rear cable looks slack. Without taking it all apart I am unsure.

any initial ideas what would cause this? Cable, Carb something else?

Seller is willing to have fixed by dealer or shop of my choice before I purchase but I am inclined to negotiate a lower price and work on it myself.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. I tried this already backed it out all the way.

Owner claims he was starting it weekly then one day it was just frozen. Throttle just will not turn.

Spray the linkage at the carb with carb cleaner. It's worth a shot.

Just disconnect the cable from the carb and manually actuate the carburetor. This will tell you if it is in the cable or the carb. If in the cable, disconnect it from the housing at the bar and try to move the cable by hand.

Thanks for the advise. Based on other issues found we decided to walk away from this one.

Both forward controls about to fall off, dead battery, oil not changed since 2008, grips bad, and owner gave misleading info about previous owners and dealer service.

Do people not realize that you are going to check history.

Anyway there are tons of sporty's on the net in nice condition and a buyers market.

Again thanks

What a shame. People who let their bikes get in that kind of condition shouldn't own one.
