Default Filter question

How about the SE free flow air cleaner, won't it let bigger dirt particles into the engine, thus
reducing the engine lifetime?

As far as I know the SE free flow filter increases air flow, the filter grid is bigger than the stock paper filter, how does it filter bigger dirt particles? So I cannot see any advantage that it will extend the engine life.

It's not so much that it filters less, it just flows better because of more surface and inlet area. It's not just the element, the backplate is what allows more airflow.
