Default A Save $ Question

I am looking into getting spoked front and back wheels for my bike. I love the look of chrome spokes with black rims (like the new wide glides have). I looked online and new ones are gonna run me around $1300 front and back (Maybe I looked at the most expensive site). Should I just try and get a set on eBay and then have the rims powder coated black? If so, what does something like that cost (the powder coating). Any suggestion of websites that sell wheels at reasonable prices or any advice on getting what I want but not for an arm and a leg would be much appreciated. Thanks

You could try some Nightster rims. They are black with chrome spokes. If you want to get rid of your current rims, someone may trade you.

Good call. Do you know if they are same size as 1200 custom (ones I have)? I also wonder what retail is on those.

After dis-assembly, I would guess 40-50 bucks a hoop to powder coat and another 50 to lace/true each wheel - unless you lace 'em yourself for free. Just a guess.

Bro I saw your bike and am in love with it. That is what has motivated me to want to get the black powder coated rims/chrome spoke wheels. I live in Lexington, KY and honestly do not know any local companies that would be able to powdercoat a rim for me if I were to buy one. My front tire size is 90/21 and my rear tire is 150/80. I don't want to have to buy new tires since my bike only has 3600 miles on it. So I want to get rims that fit the current tires I have on my bike. I have looked on eBay and can get one for the front already powder coated for around $300. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on it but am studying online retail pricing of how much they go for since I really don't know. It appears that brand new the front wheel will run around $400-$600 and the rear wheel will run around $500-$700. The one on eBay is Brand New and appears to be at a reasonable price. What do you guys think?
