I used VHT Flame Proof. I followed the directions on the back of the can for coats/ time between.

For prep I used both an engine de-greaser then brake cleaner. I sprayed the de-greaser on everything, let it sit for the recommended time and then went to town using a brass wire brush. Wiped everything down with a rag then sprayed the brake cleaner and used a new rag to get the little runs of dirt I missed in the first go.

The sprocket cover will end up getting chopped at some point in the future so I wasn't too worried about the inconsistencies in it.

Times like these I wish I had a garage. Really want to tear the bike apart and fix it right up but it's hard in a parking lot. Might have to look into a few things..

So now that I did the tank lift/ wire tuck my seat won't push all the way forward to where it used to. This now means that the bracket to the rear of the seat won't match up with the hole for the allen bolt.

Looks like I may have to raise the rear of the tank too I guess.

I'll post some pics tomorrow once there's some light out.

I added a rear lift, around an inch +/- to get the seat to fit easily. I could have gotten away with zipties or something but it is solid as a rock now. The speedo relocate is done and the wire tuck, coil relocate, ignition relocate all are done.Waiting on the new pipes from SikPipes , so I put on the old exhaust. I just need to get some wires made over at NAPA and fab up a little bracket for the rear turn signals. That should get me rolling for the time being, fingers crossed.

I have a parking garage but in an apartment building. Whenever I work on the bike people look at me like I'm trying to steal it...so I can imagine on a parking lot!

Hey man,

Good job on the bike!

I have a few questions for you: what exhaust and seat did you put on?

Can't wait to see more pictures!

I believe it's a LePera bare bones and I'll have to check but I'm pretty sure it's the screaming eagle exhaust. As soon as I get me new pipes I'll be selling these cheap.

The seats does look like a Bare Bones. Tho the exhaust is not SE because SE doesn't make full exhaust...those look like drag pipes.
