Speedometer issues
Having a hard time getting answers from the local shop, 2001 sportster 1200, Electronic speedometer is running about 10 MPH slower at highway speeds, IE 50 mph showing when going 60 MPH, also in the neighborhood, after you stop the speedometer is at 10 MPH when you are stopped then slowly winds to zero, did diagnostics and as I flipped through each one got the following d01clr, d02clr,d05clr,d06clr,d08clr,dorclr,d10clr,d025clr and ended with the numbers 72963, I am thinking speedo is bad, any dieas appreciated, my first HD with 11,000 miles on it.
Thanks
Thanks
First thing is to clear those codes and start over.
Do you have the service manual for your year and make bike?
Pull and clean the speed sensor.
There is a good troubleshooting section in the service manual for the speedo.

thanks for the response, sorry that I did not get back to you with an answer on my progress as far as troubleshooting, it took me some time to borrow a manual and do some trouble shooting along with a chart a friend of mine had. First got the sensor out and cleaned and reinstalled it, got it put back together, then proceeded to make sure the codes would clear, tunred the key to ign holding the odo reset switch in as directed, the speedometer needle still tries to sweep left to the stop instead of going right as prescribed by the trouble shooting guide, I am thinking bad speedo....sigh. Any other ideas out there. Thanks
Thanks for getting back to me, yupper those are the codes, I figured the speedo was on its way out the door, since it is still reading about 10 MPH low at hwy speeds and when I come to a stop the needle stops at about 10 MPH and slowly comes to zero, anybody got any refernces as to who might be the best to get a new speedo from or is there anybody who rebuilds them, I am new to Harleys as I rode "rice burners" most of my riding history and decided to move to HD's for some reliability. Thanks
