Default Speedometer

Just got my 03 1200 sportster this weekend and the speedometer/odometer needs to be replaced....maybe be a dumb question but I am new to bikes and Harley's, but do I have to replace with a OEM part or can I order an aftermarket one? How do I know if an aftermarket will work with my bike? Digital one? What ratio?

Thanks and just wanted to say hi and glad to have joined this forum.

Why do you need to replace it? Are you sure its not the speed sender. There are a number of aftermarket speedo's available. If you check with an online supplier like J&P Cycles.com, they will let you know what fits.
