Default Saddlebags and Lowering Blocks?

The wife got these bags for free for her 08 883L They are the Harley Synthetic Leather Sportster Bags PN 90330-08.The wife got these bags for free for her 08 883L They are the Harley Synthetic Leather Sportster Bags PN 90330-08. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
They are molded on the back side to fit over the shocks. Now here is my question. As I am not home to look at it and won't be for a couple of months. I have some 12" SG air shocks that we want to put on her bike. The shocks will rais her bike 1" from what I understand. We need to bring the bike back down an inch using some lowering blocks. (wife is only 5'1" and very short inseam) Has any one used bags like this and is there enough room in the back part of the bags where the shock goes to allow for the changed angle of the shocks after the lowering blocks have been put on.

I wish I had time to check all this out on my own but when I get home it will only be for a few days then I am gone again for a few months. I want to have all the parts I need to finish her bike up with out having to wait until I get home again. Thanks.

No margin to change shock angle with these bags.

why are you using the glide shocks? they have air assist over a spring, its not like an adjustable air bag. you probably wont get a very good ride with them on a sportster, they are made to hold up several hundred more pounds. i think it would ride more like a truck afterwards.. i have never tried it, just my thoughts

Every one talks about how much better ride you get with them on a Sportster. It has been suggested to only use 3-5 lbs pressure. I guess we will look for other bags. Perhaps some nice throw overs. Thanks.

just try the worse that could happen is youll lose a couple bucks when you sale the parts if it doesnt work. imo or you could pay the $175+ to have the shocks shortened...

Don't know what I was thinking. Simple solution to the problem. The shocks will only raise her bike 1/2 inch. So it seems to me that if I send her Mustang vintage solo seat in for a re-shape that will fix the height problem. Talked to Mean City Cycles and the can reshape with memory foam, lower her seat 1.5" move her forward 1" and narrow the front of the saddle. All of this will = her a bit lower on the bike, more comfortable seat, and when Mama's happy all is well.
