2up riding iron 883
Hey all,
I almost exclusively ride solo on my iron that I just got. However my girlfriend just recently showed some interest in 2 up riding. The only time I have done 2 up was on a much heavier bike (fatboy Lo).
Can anyone tell me what 2 up riding is like on an iron compared to a heavier bike? Thanks for the help!

Guessing here, but since your Iron is a lot lighter, it's going to be more nimble. You'll be able to move it around faster, and your passenger is going to have to be more in tune with what you're doing. It's probably not going to be as forgiving as a heavier ride like a lo. I know when my wife started on my Sportster, she said she first felt like she was sliding off the back. She has since gotten used to it, but I'm still tempted to toss on the old sissy bar so she has something behind her for security. Just my thoughts, not from experience.
I got the mustang fastback on Amazon to keep the look of the bike and I went with detachable sissy bar because seat is slanted back. It's not real comfy for the passenger on long rides but great for short rides and bar hopping.
Im on a 2005 Sportster 883 XL, I two up pretty often. I switch between the Badlander for short rides and the Sundowner for longer rides. I added a mini rail back rest after the first two up ride cause I damn near tossed my girl off the back of the bike when I gave it some throttle. The mini rail actually looks really good with both seats although since the Sundowner is a thicker seat it becomes more of a butt stop than a back rest.
2 Up riding is no big deal on a Sporty, the bike can handle 280 lbs (both of us combined) with no problem. Only difference is it takes a bit longer to speed up and to slow down. Make sure you keep that in mind when youre coming to a stop!!! Teach your passanger how to lean with you and you'll be able to make all the turns just like if you were riding solo!
