Default 1200/1250 conversion vs. new 1200 HD

I bought my Iron 883 last year and have been very happy with it but I am now wanting more pick-up and go. Everyone is telling me to get a bigger bike (1200+). I like the Forty-Eight but they don't come in Black Denim. Is there any difference to the 1200 that comes on the Forty Eight and me upgrading my 883 to a 1200? Dealership will give me $6000 for my bike and Forty Eight is $11000 so I will pay $5000 for a Forty Eight but it is only $3000 to upgrade mine with the dyno tune. I like the wheels, paint, and tank better on the Iron. I've even toyed with the idea of getting a 2013 Iron and before taking it home the first day have them convert it to the 1200, this would also come out to $11000.

Get a 1250 kit from hammer performance that way you can keep yor lower gearing and their kits blow away the harley 1200 kits power wise. They are a better deal as well, provided you do the work yourself, it's pretty straight forward and there are plenty of how to's out there.

Keep the Iron if you love it and install a 1250 kit. Just changing the cylinders and pistons will make it a completely different way more powerful bike. If you want to go all out you can also do the heads and cams but using the stock 883 heads and cams with a 1250 kit will put a smile on your face when you crack the throttle. This option the 1250 jugs and pistons, combined with a tuner, pipes and a stage 1 AC will still be cheaper than trading in your Iron and it will have more power than a stock 1200.

Hammer Performance 1250 kit? Wouldn't it void the HD warranty?

Uncle Chester has it! And Mich has an excellent thread illustrating how to install a 1250 kit. Plenty of other threads about 1250 kits, so use Search.
