We have done a few of the 1250 kits here and they run great. But the increase in power over a good 1200 kit is not earth shattering. There is alot of difference in $$$$ so its all in what you want.
ya i know the differnceis not earth shatytering over the 1200 kits.....but do you think it is worth it....do you have to change anything esle with it.....are the pistons reverse dome and are they closely weighted to the 1200 reverse pistons?? like the 883 weight
According to NRHS who makes the 1250 kit the pistons are reverse dome. No idea how much they weigh. See here http://www.nrhsperformance.com/ekit8831200.shtml
You don't have to change anything else out with the kit unless you want even more power then you can always get better heads or get work done on the original 883 heads. You can also get a better cam.
I just got mine finished about 2 weeks ago. Best money I have spent since I bought it 2 years ago.
I went with the sreamin eagle pistons, buell 1200 cylinders, and had the screamin eagle dynojet kit for the carb.
The screamin eagle pistons are designed to work with the 883 heads ending up with 10:1 compression.
The bike now has serious torque through all the gears. Front end gets really light when you jump on it.
I already had the SE a/c stage 1 kit
and have V&H straightshot HS
This is an ineresting article almost the same thing I did but I have 10:1 compresion over the 9.5:1
and didn't change out the rear sprocket! http://www.chuckhawks.com/bucks_sportster.htm
