I picked up a used 2002 883 and recently there's been some issues with starting the bike. The battery is about a year old, and every few weeks, I go to turn it on and the electronics don't even come on. I ride every day as a commuter and feel like this is odd. I've hooked the battery up to a trickle charger and even when it says, "Charge complete" I turn the key and still no electronics. I'm thinking of replacing the battery, maybe it's a faulty cell, but maybe I'm missing something.

Could be any number of reasons for these symptons. Faulty connections are often the cause. Check the engine earth strap (ground wire) for clean and tight connection, and also check for water penetration on the ignition switch. If there is a problem with the wiring, then a new battery won't cure it. Hope you find the gremlin in your system.
