Need some feedback...
A few of the fine sponsers here on HDF have been kind enough to donate a few items to help raise some fundage for JD in his time of need. First of all, "huge thanks" to those sponser's that stepped up for us. I don't have names in front of me, I'm actually sittin in my office right now, but once we figure how to approach this I'll definitly let everyone know where the items came from.
Now for the feedback needed... We.. we being 1of2, Jaxfatboy, LadyHawk, and I, we're figuring on just getting some raffle tickets, sale so many for whatever price, and then have a weekend g2g and raffle off the items. The only problem I foresee is that some of the items are bike specific. So someone with a sporty wouldn't care to win something for a softy, or what have you. This got me thinkin maybe a silent auction with the bike specific parts. OR.. we can do the raffle ticket thing and you purchase the ticket for a specific part. Then we keep those tickets in one hat for said part.. so on and so forth(?).
LadyHawk will be gettin pics of the items up soon... along with where they were donated from. Once we get it all figured out and which direction to go, we'll work on a date and place to meet for some fun in the sun.
So give me some feedback here, Florida Crew!
1) Raffle everything.. what you get is what you get!
2) Do seperate raffle(s) for bike specific items.
3) Raffle only non specific items and Silent Auction bike specific items
*Sorry, I don't know how to set up a poll*

What about an open auction? Seems you may have some parts left over if no one wants to buy tickets for specific items? A crew party with open auction, (after the beer has been distributed), might be kinda fun! Just a thought.
A second thought...
Maybe those who happen to recieve unwanted items could be allowed to re-auction their stuff after the main auction is finished, 50% of the proceeds to go back into the fund just for an additional kicker benefitting both the auctioneers and the fund?

In my experience with raffles if someone gets something they couldn't use they would try swapping it with another winner. That way everyone gets something they can use. This takes some pressure off the organizers.

I was on a charity run where they had you choose the items you wanted. You got 4 tickets for 20 dollars and put each ticket in the jar that corresponds to the item(s) you were interested in. I like the idea of only entering for the items you want. I am more likely to drop a few more bucks if I don't have to worry about winning a part that I can't use. if there are any items that were not awarded they could be sold locally with proceeds going to JD of course.
Also, I would ike to see the items offered to those of us who would like to help but do not live in FL. Maybe a forum post with descriptions and paypal account to accept money for tickets. Winner understands they are responsible for shipping/delivery.
I am willing to help organize but not sure what I can do from here.

I like #3.
Also, since I just paid for but still do not actually HAVE my bike yet, I'll likely be happy just to get something I can use.
BTW, any ideas yet Where and When the G2G will be? My Wife is still out of town (4 weeks so far) taking care of ailing parents in California, we have no idea when she will be back (likely after Easter), and I need to figure what to do with my 13 yr old Son on that day.

Silent auction is cool, if you happen to be in attendance.
If this is going to be open to the whole HDforum.....
the parts/ items could be put in the appropriate forum categories....with a firm date
for ending? (dead beats/non-payers tend to rise to the top).
I like a drunken silent auction personaly....but some of the items may not
even be wanted by the people attending....so we are back to opening up
the auction to the forum. I think I heard one of the items is strictly for
an EVO engine. Kind of hard to sell raffle tickets for an item no one may have
a use for. (I open bid at .50 cents)
I say, we use the quickest and easiest method for quick cash to help a fellow member.
Since the items were donated....we have no need to get TOP DOLLAR.
Post in the forum what items are available....take bids.....and at the GTG....post what bids have been received already, and the people at the GTG can outbid the last forum bid if
they really want the item. This of course, does not allow the 'forum only bidder' to bid again, but does not disallow a florida crew member from bidding in the forum.
Make sense?
Could be hard to pull off though. Difficult enough to get a few people together on a
specific date when you give three months notice. (Dave may need cash now.)
I have a Florida Crew hat I will donate.
