Fellow Floridians, I got an 07 Fxstc all stock with 5k mi & I'm wondering what tips you all might have for keeping motors cool. It's my daily rider too & from work, so traffic is heavy & mostly unavoidable in Largo. My jean pants got on the exhaust other day & a new hole has been made in pants. Thanks
Welcome to the Crew from Port Richey. Your 07 will not have a catalytic converter nor parade mode so forget about those two. Synthetic oil will make a noticeable difference though. You should start out this quest by reading this http://sales.nightrider.com/2007-HD-...vior_b_12.html Lots of good info, even if his update is hard to read because of the background color. After reading around on his site some and you have a basic understanding of what the problem is, give him a call. Or better yet, ride by and talk with him. He is in Oldsmar and more than happy to discuss the heat issue and solutions with you. The 96's are just hot running engines and you are never going to get it really cool but it can certainly be made better than it is now. The pipes are still gonna burn your jeans though, you will learn to avoid that over time. I have an 07' custom myself and I went through the burning my jeans thing to at first. Good luck with your battle and be sure to hop on a ride on here sometime.
Capt Itch, those crotch coolers sound good. Will get one ordered soon.
Just Dave, thanks for link. I knew bike got hot cause of the loop, I was thinking about doing the stage 1 kit. Guess this is a good excuse, lol. I'll have to head to Oldsmar & have a talk. I'll be joining on a ride soon.
Stage 1 for sure. Stock pipes are restrictive, restriction creates heat. Open them up some and it will be cooler. Not a lot but better. Synthetic oil also don't forget better air flow out need better air flow in
Get the AC done and take a ride to Dallas with me and SoFla to get a good, you really should get the fuelmoto 107 installed first so you dont waste money getting a retune. Get a D&D fatcat while you are at it.
