Chesters HOG Discount

I ALWAYS ask for a discount. There are 7 or 8 H-D dealers within 100 miles of here (I sign up for all their newsletters), and one of them is usually having a sale of 10%-15%-20% off P&A at one time or another for some promotion. So I ask the dealer I'm at to match it. The usual reply is "Do you want to go to that dealer to buy the part?" To which I say "Sure, its a nice ride anyway!" Works 95% of the time.

I don't buy from Chester's unless it either a small purchase or a last minute need. I don't believe in the way they do business. I purchase most of my Harley needs online at Surdyke or get the the rest of my parts at Bikers Inc. two miles away.

I feel I get better pricing over the Internet. If they want my business they should offer a discount, HOG member or not.

That's not just Chester's business model; that's all dealerships (Harley or otherwise) business model it seems. Hampton Road Harley does at least offer some good prices and discounts to our members here.

fwiw, I bought my '13 Street Bob from Chester's after looking at a pre-owned SB they had in inventory that would have actually cost more.

They have been fair to me, so no complaints.

Jody in Service is a great person to deal with.

They are no different in their "asking price" than any other dealer. Every now and then there will be a customer who will go for it, but anyone with half a brain knows that a counter offer is the next step. FWIW, there is a $5200 mark up on a Limited, plus holdback and factory to dealer incentives.

Profit is not a dirty word.

I've had service done on the bike at Petersen's North and at Chester's. Both have treated me fairly. If I need to buy a large $$ item, I will wait for HOG Discount day.
