I should have clarified; I use a 4' pole extended; it's about 2-1/2' collapsed. I also have a clip in mine, but don't use it much.
BTW, I neglected to mention that my preferred flag is actually nylon. Once you reinforce it, it holds up well. I have one that has held up so well that I may retire it .... because it's beginning to fade and show dark stains in the white areas. It's still got a lot of miles left in the construction, it just doesn't look very good any more.
The nylon flags also fly easier than the heavy cloth flags. And most Mfg's say to use the nylon if in prolonged high winds.
I fly a USA Made Super Tough Sewn Polyester from onlinestores.com. Air flows through it, fly's real nice and it does not soak up water and is lightweight. Cotton is heavy and Nylon flags have never held up for Hwy Speeds.
