My Latest Project.
Seems like nothing I do can ever be easy.
Someone scratched the heck out of my Right Saddlebag about a month ago. Not sure if it was a car door, or another bike, but I decided it was time to add Saddlebag Rails to give them some protection. And, I thought the Chrome Rails would look good on my bike.
Problem was, I'm running the "Comfort Rear Saddlebag Guard" due to my wife having very short legs. Harley doesn't make the "Comfort Guard" that works with the Twin Saddlebag Rails.
I also have the Rivco Flag Mount brackets, and have the CB Antenna mounted low cause I don't usually use the Tour Pak.
All stuff that might be in the way of the Rails.
I bought a set of Rails from a forum member just to see if I could make them work.
First thing was to match up the holes so I could drill them in the same spot on the Comfort Guards. I had to cut the Guards so I could get them side by side to match the hole locations.

Finally got the holes marked so I could drill. What a PITA, not only did the holes have to line up, but I had to set the angle to match the original Guard holes.

Finally got everything drilled, fabricated a new bracket to mount the Antenna, and all was good. Got lucky with the Rivco brackets, they just barely cleared.

Was a lot of work, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. Never could have done this without a Drill Press and Vise.

Good job of taking matters into your own hands and making it work. Always thought HD should have more options for the comfort low guards with rails.
